Gold In The Darkest Moments #4

Another week gone already.  This week has seemed really long for me, it feels like ages since I last posted, even though it's only been seven days.  My emotions have been a rollercoaster this week, although I've doing pretty good which has been nice.  I'm going to share some of the highlights with you.

1.  Amazing photo opportunities.
I've been trying really hard to photograph more often, it's something that I love doing but haven't been doing often enough.  There have been a few gorgeous sunrises this week and I've been fortunate enough to capture them before I go to work.

2.  Spending time with my friends at work.
I've been making more of an effort to hang out with the people that I work with in the evenings, even if it meant four of us in the kitchen dancing to uptown funk, sitting up chatting with a handful of people talking till one am, or rearranging one of our rooms into chair/blanket forts and watching a movie on a projector screen.

3.  Pizza party.
One of the things that we done as a group was have a pizza making party which then resulted in us building chair forts and watching a movie.  It was so much fun and I had a great time.  Shopping beforehand in Asda was even fun, ten of us walking around with various trolleys, me falling over cause my shoes were really slippy, and one of my friends walking around in his bare feet cause 'who needs shoes?'.
We also had good drives with great music to Asda and back and it was a really fun evening.

4.  Meals out.
On my day off I went out for lunch with a few of my friends and then almost everyone from my work ended up going out for tea together.  I ate way too much food that day!  When we went out for tea I only ordered a pudding, I was so full!!

5. Baking.
I baked S'more Brownies last night and I'm really pleased with how they turned out.  It was so fun to make them, especially since I won't be able to bake over the next couple of weeks cause work is going to be really busy.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I really enjoyed writing it.  I probably won't be able to post in this series next week due to being extremely busy at work cause our Easter camps are starting.  But hopefully I'll be able to share something.  Please let me know in the comments how your weeks have been, I'd love to hear from you.

Gold In The Darkest Moments #3

Yesterday was quite a down day for me, I was feeling pretty rubbish and anxious.  This week has gone in so quickly for me, I can't believe it's Wednesday already!   I was feeling quite good at the end of last week but like I said, I'm feeling pretty down just now but I'm still going to look back on the week and share some of my happiness with you.

1.  An evening walk.
Yesterday evening I went for a walk after work.  It helped me to clear my head and I was able to take some photos that I'm quite please with.  Having that time to myself to really appreciate the place that I live was lovely and something that I needed.

2.  It's Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini.
This book is incredible!  It's been on my 'to read' list for quite a long time so when my siter got me a Waterstones gift card for my birthday I finally got a copy.  This book will make you laugh, cry and smile yet, it shows the reality of mental health in a raw and compelling way.

3.   Monday morning.
I loved Monday morning.  I know, not a normal thing to say but since Monday is my day off it meant I got a lie in.  But I was also down on the rota for morning horses, one my friends tagged along to help and we had a good laugh.  Even though it did result in him chucking me in a feeder and throwing hay on my head, I really enjoyed it.

4.  Another campfire.
Last week myself and a few friends from work had a barbeque and a campfire at our work.  Since the weather was even nicer we decided to do the same thing after work on Sunday and it was lovely.  Hanging out together, listening to Panic! At The Disco, and eating too much food.

5.  Daffodils.
There's lots of gorgeous Daffodils at my work and it looks lovely!  It really feels like Spring now and I love it, especially for taking photographs.

6.  My friend Olivia.
I got to see my friend Olivia at the weekend, she was volunteering at my work and we were in the same department.  I didn't realise how much I miss her till I got to spend a lot of time with her over the weekend.  She's such an amazing girl and I am so lucky to have her a s a friend, she's an absolute gem and hanging out with her makes me so happy.

7.  My friend Dani.
On Monday afternoon I had quite a difficult doctor's appointment which has made me quite rocky and anxious.  But I've spent the last 3 days chatting to my friend Dani who lives in Canada.  We've talked about everything from my health issues to cats to bridesmaids.  It's so great to be able to message her about anything and everything and I just love her so much.

Those are just some of the things from this week which have made me happy.  I'm enjoying this series a lot and I hope you are too, you can read my two previous posts from this series by clicking here.  Let me know in the comments about the things from your week that have made you happy, I'd love to hear from you.

Gold In The Darkest Moments #2

It feels like a lot longer than a week since I wrote the first post for my Gold In The Darkest Moments series - so much has happened in the past seven days!
My week has been quite emotional to say the least, but I'm still going to look back and share some of my happy moments with you all.

1.   Campfire with my friends.

On Monday evening a group of my friends cooked a barbeque and we had a campfire.  We all live and work together but it was nice to spend time together out of the pressure of our work environment, even if we were still om site.  And a few of my friends taught me a bit about constellations which was really fun for me.

2.   Lunch with my parents.
Last Thursday I went out for lunch with my parents and had a really lovely time.  It was nice being back home and going out with them both.  We then done a bit of shopping and I may have got a little carried away in Lakeland and bought a lot a few baking things.

3.  Nicer weather.
The weather here in UK is slowly but surely getting better.  The daylight is lasting longer, I'm occasionally reaching for my sunglasses, and I've been spending a bit more time out and a bit and not running inside from the cold.  This excites me so much and I'm looking forward to organising things with my friends to enjoy the nicer weather.

4.  Watching Lucy and Lydia on YouTube.
Since I moved away I haven't been watching YouTubers are often as I used to, but I've been slowly getting back into watching certain creators regularly.  I've really enjoyed catching up on Lucy and Lydia's channel.  Their videos are fun, easy watching and I feel as though I'm sitting listening to a friend chat when I watch their videos, it's great.

5.   Photography.

I've been letting my photography take a back seat recently and I miss it a lot but I've been finding a lot of inspiration in Linda Blacker's work.  I've never tried portraiture or fine art photography but I'd like to give it a go as well as get back into the photography I already enjoy like architecture and nature.

Let me know in the comments about the things from your week that have made you happy, I'd love to hear about them and to spread the positivity.

Gold In The Darkest Moments #1

For a while now I've been looking for a way to share with you the things in my life that have been making me happy.  I often tend to dwell on the negative things, so I thought that if I started a weekly series which made me look for good things to share from the past seven days, this could be a little way to help me look at things a little more positively.

Katy from Little Miss Katy has a series called Happy Monday.  I absolutely adore Katy's blog and every Monday she shares ten things from her week that have made her happy.

I've decided to start my own version of this called Gold In The Darkest Moments (taken from the song Cinderblock Garden) were every Wednesday I'll share at least 5 things from my week that have made me happy.  So, lets get on with the first instalment!

1.  The past weekend.
I had a brilliant weekend at my work.  I work full time at a Christian outdoor activity centre and we had our annual ladies weekend the past weekend.  I had an amazing time, the ladies that attended were lovely, I ran a fitness class (I know, I was quite shocked as well!) and I got to work with lots of great people.

2.  My hair(cut).
I got a haircut!  I know, it's a small thing but for quite a while I've needed a decent haircut.  Each time I've been to the hairdressers I've put off getting the haircut I've needed and my hair has not been thanking me for it.  But this morning I bit the bullet and got a good couple of inches taken off, and I am so pleased with it!  My hair already feels a lot healthier!

3. Starting to exercise daily.
For people who have been reading my blog for a while this one is quite surprising, considering how many jokes I make about how unfit I am.  But since Christmas I've been making more of an effort when it comes to my fitness level, I was getting fed up being tired after walking up some stairs.
I started off by going for a lunch time walk and then doing a 15 minute workout (if you could even call it that).
But now I go for a walk every lunch break, and have put together an hour long workout for after work which is suited to me starting out with fitness.
This has genuinely made me so happy and I'm starting to see the difference it's already making for me, even if it is small at the moment.

4.  Runaway by Against The Current
It might seem a bit strange to have a song in a post like this but, I love music so I couldn't help but sneak one in!  I have been listening to Runaway by Against The Current on repeat while dancing around my room and singing loudly and out of tune.  It's a fun, upbeat song which has turned into my happiness song at the moment and it's great.

5. Drinking more water.
Again, a simple thing but it's been so beneficial.  I've been making more of an effort to drink more water and my skin is feeling a lot better for it.

6.  Notting Hill.
I finally watched Notting Hill!  Yes, when it comes to classic movies I am pretty deprived, I haven't even seen Monsters Inc. yet and I'm nineteen years old!  But, my mum and dad bought me Notting Hill for my birthday so we cosied up on the sofa and had a movie night, it was lovely and I really enjoyed the movie - Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are brilliant!

 7. My family.
I'm saving the best till last for this post.  I'm back home for a few days just now and I've loved spending time with my family.  It's the really little things I've loved like going shopping with my mum, washing dishes with my dad, and going to my grans for my lunch.  Losing my Auntie at the end of last year has really made me realise how fragile life is and has made me extremely grateful for my family.

I hope you've enjoyed this post, I've really enjoyed writing it and I'm looking forward to writing another one next week.  Let me know in the comments what things have made you happy over the past week, I'd love to read about them.
